Ferritic cryogenic steels are divided into three categories according to their composition
Low carbon manganese steel
Low carbon manganese steel (C0.05~0.28%,Mn0.6~2%). Make Mn/C≈10, reduce oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus and other harmful impurities, and some also add a small amount of aluminum, niobium, titanium, vanadium and other elements to refine the grain. The minimum use temperature of this kind of steel is about -60℃.
Low alloy steel
Low alloy steel. Mainly include low nickel steel (Ni2 ~ 4%), manganese nickel molybdenum steel (Mn0.6 ~ 1.5%, Ni0.2 ~ 1.0%, Mo0.4 ~ 0.6%, C 0.25% or less), nickel chrome molybdenum steel (Ni0.7 ~ 3.0%, Cr0.4 ~ 2.0%, Mo0.2 ~ 0.6%, C 0.25% or less). The strength of these steels is higher than that of mild steel, and the minimum service temperature can reach about -110 ° C. China has developed several kinds of low-temperature low-alloy steel with nickel, such as 09Mn2V.
Medium (high) alloy steel
Medium (high) alloy steel. There are mainly 6%Ni steel, 9%Ni steel, 36%Ni steel, of which 9%Ni steel is widely used for cryogenic steel. This kind of high nickel steel can be used at temperatures as low as -196℃.
3.5Ni steel plate is an ultra-low temperature steel with a nickel content of about 3.5%, which is a low temperature ductile steel for ships and Marine engineering, and has excellent low temperature toughness and high strength at -101℃.

5Ni steel plate implementation standard: GB/T 24510-2017, this standard is applicable to the thickness of not more than 150mm nickel alloy steel plate for liquefied gas storage devices.
